Meeting No. 4

Thursday, November 21, 2002

The Standing Committee on Agriculture and Agri-Food met at 9:10 a.m. this day, in Room 209, West Block, the Chair, Charles Hubbard, presiding.

Members of the Committee present: David L. Anderson, Rick Borotsik, Garry Breitkreuz, Murray Calder, Claude Duplain, Marcel Gagnon, Howard Hilstrom, Charles Hubbard, Larry McCormick, Louis Plamondon, Dick Proctor and Rose-Marie Ur.

Acting Members present: Inky Mark for Rick Borotsik and Suzanne Tremblay for Louis Plamondon.

In attendance: From the Library of Parliament: Jean-Denis Fréchette, Principal.

Witnesses: From the Canadian Food Inspection Agency: Sarah Kahn, Director, Animal Health and Production Division. From the Parks Canada Agency: Greg Fenton, Field Unit Superintendant, Riding Mountain National Park; Mike Wong, Executive Director, Ecological Integrity.

Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2), Information Session concerning the occurrence of tuberculosis in the elk and deer herds in Riding Mountain National Park, Manitoba.

The witnesses made opening statements and answered questions.

At 11:00 a.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
