Petition to the House of Commons

Whereas:
  • The National Monument to the Mission in Afghanistan has been marred in political scandal and interference;
  • This political scandal and interference have caused this national project to miss the 10th anniversary of the conclusion of the mission in Afghanistan; and
  • This political gamesmanship overshadows the intent of a national monument and thus is no longer representative of the dedication and sacrifices of the Afghanistan veteran.
We, the undersigned, citizens or residents of Canada, call upon the Government of Canada to scrap the current national monument project and start over from scratch, and build a monument that properly honours and represents the great service and sacrifice of all who served in the Canadian Mission to Afghanistan.
