E-petition
Initiated by Jennifer van Gennip from Toronto, Ontario

Original language of petition: English

Petition to the Minister of Health

Whereas:
  • Access to healthcare is a right that all Canadians share, regardless of their social, racial, economic, or geographic differences;
  • Hepatitis C is the single most burdensome infectious disease in Canada, affecting at least 250,000 Canadians;
  • Hepatitis C now has a cure; and
  • The Government of Canada has signed on to a World Health Organization Global Viral Hepatitis Strategy to end viral hepatitis as a public health threat by 2030.
We, the undersigned, citizens and residents of Canada, call upon the Government of Canada to show leadership and offer guidance through a resourced national strategy, to enable each of our provinces and territories to implement their own effective action plans framed around the goal of eliminating viral hepatitis as a public health threat by 2030.
