House of Commons Finance Committee Tables Report on the Impact of Oil Prices

Ottawa, June 08, 2015 -

Today, the House of Commons Standing Committee on Finance released a report entitled Recent Oil Price Changes: Selected Canadian Impacts.

The report reflects witness testimony and written submissions received during the Committee’s March 2015 study. The Committee met with 20 organizations and four individuals, and received an additional eight written submissions. The testimony and written submissions are available on the Committee’s website.

“During this study, the Committee heard a variety of perspectives related to the recent decline in the global price of oil and its effects on the Canadian economy in general as well as on particular sectors,” said James Rajotte, Member of Parliament for Edmonton-Leduc and Chair of the Committee. “I am confident that the insights and proposals provided by witnesses will be informative for policy makers, stakeholders and the general public.”
