Q-5842 — November 2, 2009 — Mr. Rae (Toronto Centre) — With regard to the Department of Foreign Affairs and International Trade, how many people did the Department employ in 2007, 2008 and 2009 in the following categories: (a) Canadian citizens employed by the Department in general; (b) Canadian diplomats stationed outside of Canada; (c) locally-engaged non-Canadian staff outside of Canada; and (d) all staff at the Departmental headquarters in Ottawa?
Q-5852 — November 2, 2009 — Mr. Clarke (Desnethé--Missinippi--Churchill River) — With respect to the use of government owned fleet of Challenger jets from January 1, 2000 until January 28, 2006: (a) how many times has the fleet been used; (b) what are the names and titles of the passengers present on each flight manifest; (c) who authorized each flight; (d) what were all of the departure points and destinations of these aircrafts; (e) what were the total operational costs associated with each of these flights; and (f) what were the total food and beverage costs associated with each flight?

Opposition Motions
November 2, 2009 — Ms. Bennett (St. Paul's) — That, in the opinion of the House, provincial and local health authorities and health care workers should receive the maximum possible support from the federal government in handling the H1N1 flu pandemic and related vaccination efforts, and the Government of Canada should therefore immediately: (a) allocate the full $400 million set aside for pandemic response in the 2006 budget to support additional medical staff for vaccinations and patient care; (b) increase support for emergency planning to help local health authorities cope with long line-ups and shortages of both vaccines and health care workers; and (c) divert the money now being spent on needless, partisan advertising of government budgetary measures to a new public awareness campaign to keep Canadians informed with essential up-to-date information throughout the pandemic.

November 2, 2009 — Mr. McCallum (Markham—Unionville) — That, in the opinion of the House, the government has a duty to assist the Parliamentary Budget Officer in his efforts to evaluate the implementation and effectiveness of the government’s economic stimulus plan, and report thereon to Parliament and Canadians, and the government’s duty includes the responsibility to provide all information requested by the Parliamentary Budget Officer in a complete, organized and timely manner, including information compiled electronically by the government.

November 2, 2009 — Ms. Neville (Winnipeg South Centre) — That, in the opinion of the House, the government should immediately launch a full public comprehensive investigation into over 500 reported cases of missing and murdered Aboriginal women and girls in Canada.

November 2, 2009 — Mr. Byrne (Humber—St. Barbe—Baie Verte) — That, in the opinion of the House, the Government of Canada should not ratify the Amendment to the Convention on Future Multilateral Cooperation in the Northwest Atlantic Fisheries adopted by the General Council of the Northwest Atlantic Fisheries Organization (NAFO) in 2007, and should instead notify NAFO of its objection to the Amendment as per Article XXI of the Convention.

Private Members' Notices of Motions

M-460 — November 2, 2009 — Mr. Shipley (Lambton—Kent—Middlesex) — That, in the opinion of the House, the government should ensure that production management tools available to Canadian farmers are similar to those of other national jurisdictions by considering equivalent scientific research and agricultural regulatory approval processes by Health Canada, the Pest Management Regulatory Agency, and the Canadian Food Inspection Agency.
M-461 — November 2, 2009 — Mr. Atamanenko (British Columbia Southern Interior) — That in the opinion of the House, the government should take the following actions in order to avert another crisis similar to the one faced by flax farmers: (a) review the current regulatory process to include consideration of market harm in the approval of unconfined release and confined release of plants with novel traits (genetically engineered plants); (b) desist from any future approvals, and re-evaluate any current approvals, for confined release of genetically engineered alfalfa; (c) re-evaluate the government's existing approval for unconfined release of genetically engineered alfalfa; and (d) report back to Parliament, through the Minister of Agriculture and Agri-Food, the results of the government’s review of the regulatory process within twelve calendar months or at the earliest opportunity following the twelve months if Parliament is not in session.
M-462 — November 2, 2009 — Mr. Rafferty (Thunder Bay—Rainy River) — That, in the opinion of the House, the government should give immediate notice to the Government of Ontario that it no longer plans to introduce legislative measures to enable the implementation of a harmonized sales tax (HST) and that it plans to cancel its $4.3 billion offer to establish the HST in that province.
M-463 — November 2, 2009 — Mr. Siksay (Burnaby—Douglas) — That the House endorse the principle of the establishment of a Department of Peace as part of the structure of the federal government and cabinet with a mandate to advocate for the non-violent resolution of conflict at home and abroad, the professionalization of peace work by Canadians, and the development of a culture of peace in Canada and internationally.
