Q-257 — April 29, 2008 — Mr. St. Denis (Algoma—Manitoulin—Kapuskasing) — With respect to the Kapuskasing Experimental Farm (KEF), located in Kapuskasing, Ontario: (a) what are the plans of Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada (AAFC) for the near-term and long-term improvement, expanding or improving of the infrastructure of the KEF; (b) is the government considering closing or reducing the scope of the KEF and, if so, what are the details and plans of AAFC for community consultations; and (c) what research projects are now ongoing at the KEF and what new projects are planned?

M-488 — April 29, 2008 — Mr. Cotler (Mount Royal) — That the House: (a) recognize the historic significance of the 60th anniversary of the reconstitution of the sovereign and independent State of Israel as a homeland for the Jewish people; (b) reaffirm its support for Israel as Israel pursues peace with its neighbors; (c) reaffirm its support for Israel's right to defend itself against threats to its existence and security; (d) commend the people of Israel for their achievements in building a new state and a pluralistic, democratic society in the face of hostilities; (e) reaffirm the bonds of friendship and cooperation between Canada and Israel, and commit to strengthening those bonds; and (f) extend the warmest congratulations and best wishes to the State of Israel and the Israeli people for a secure and prosperous future at peace with her neighbors.
M-489 — April 29, 2008 — Mr. Temelkovski (Oak Ridges—Markham) — That, in the opinion of the House, the government should introduce a national registry for asbestos-related diseases which would: (a) ensure the systematic collection, analysis and dissemination of health data to monitor the extent and severity of asbestos-related diseases in Canada; and (b) provide a comprehensive data source for the development of programs to identify, monitor, treat, compensate and prevent asbestos-related diseases.
