| June 3, 2008 — Mr. Dosanjh (Vancouver South) — That, in the opinion of this House, it is necessary to reassure Canadians about national security and, to that end, the government should launch a professional, independent inquiry at arm’s length from the government, to examine the events and circumstances that resulted in the resignation of the former Foreign Affairs Minister, the Honourable Member for Beauce, including what security checks were made at any time in respect of the ex-Minister or any other person with whom he was associated; the nature of all documents, including classified documents, which went missing between April 3rd and May 25th, 2008; the inquiries, if any, made by the government about their whereabouts; the manner in which they were retrieved and by whom; the persons who were aware that such documents were either missing or had been retrieved, and the exact time at which they became aware of either; the flow of events between the retrieval of the documents and the resignation of the ex-Minister, including who had knowledge of this matter, and when the Prime Minister was first advised. | 3 juin 2008 — M. | June 3, 2008 — Mr. Rae (Toronto Centre) — That this House take note of the unwillingness of the government to defend the rights of some Canadian citizens who find themselves in legal difficulties in foreign countries and, in the opinion of this House, the accumulating indications of unfairness and a lack of due process in the proceedings by the United States military against Omar Khadr, including the recent removal of the presiding judge in this case, provide compelling grounds for Canada to seek the immediate repatriation of Omar Khadr to face justice in Canada, especially since he was a child at the time of the offences he is alleged to have committed, which is a factor not being considered by the U.S. military commission, and he is now the only citizen of any western country still incarcerated at Guantanamo Bay. | 3 juin 2008 — M.
