Q-1002 — October 12, 2006 — Ms. Chow (Trinity—Spadina) — With regard to the government's plans for child care: (a) how many spaces will be created by the end of March 2007 from the $650 million that was transfered to the provinces and territories to create child care spaces; (b) what kind of phase-out plan will be implemented to deal with the loss of those funds on April 1, 2007; (c) what is the timeline for launching the $250 million Child Care Spaces Initiative; and (d) how many child care spaces will be created from the $1.6 billion Universal Child Care Benefit?
Q-1012 — October 12, 2006 — Ms. Chow (Trinity—Spadina) — With regard to the government's $55 million cut to the Summer Career Placement Program, as announced on September 25, 2006: (a) how many jobs will be lost in the not-for-profit sector; and (b) how many jobs will be lost among small businesses due to the loss of such funds?
Q-1022 — October 12, 2006 — Ms. Chow (Trinity—Spadina) — With regard to the Toronto Port Authority: (a) what safety standards are being violated should the Q400 operated by Porter Airlines land at the Toronto City Centre Airport without the installation of an Instrument Landing System (ILS); (b) what directives have been given to NAV Canada to speed up the installation of an ILS system at the Toronto City Centre Airport; and (c) were any government funds used to support the purchase and installation of such a system at the Toronto City Centre Airport?
Q-1032 — October 12, 2006 — Mr. Paquette (Joliette) — With respect to the Income Tax Act and the research and development incentives of the Scientific Research and Experimental Development (SRED) Tax Incentive Program: (a) can the government tell us the estimated dollar value it places on unused SRED Tax Incentive Program tax credits; and (b) is the government planning to expand access to these tax credits and to amend refund provisions and, if so, which ones?

M-228 — October 12, 2006 — Ms. Chow (Trinity—Spadina) — That, in the opinion of the House, the government should proceed to withdraw the lands that remain unprotected within the South Nahanni Watershed and the karstlands of the Ram plateau prior to the release of any study of the mineral and energy resources.
M-229 — October 12, 2006 — Ms. Chow (Trinity—Spadina) — That, in the opinion of the House, the government should harmonize Canadian vehicle safety standards with Regulation No. 73 of the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe by introducing a regulation under the Motor Vehicle Safety Act requiring side underrun guards for large trucks and trailers to prevent cyclists and pedestrians from being pulled under the wheels of these vehicles.
M-230 — October 12, 2006 — Ms. Chow (Trinity—Spadina) — That, in the opinion of the House, the government should reinvest all funds resulting from the taxation of the Universal Child Care Benefit by transferring the said funds to the provincial and territorial governments in order to create new childcare spaces.
M-231 — October 12, 2006 — Mr. Karygiannis (Scarborough—Agincourt) — That, in the opinion of the House, the government should enhance the safety of the Canadian public by establishing, in a public/private partnership, repositories for firearms in urban communities with populations over 40,000 persons.
