Subject: The 2005 Pre-Budget Consultations

The House of Commons Standing Committee on Finance is planning on holding its public hearings on the 2005 pre-budget consultations from Monday, September 26th to Friday November 4th, 2005. There will be hearings in Ottawa from Monday, September 26th to Thursday, October 6th, and from Monday, October 24th to Thursday, October 27th. The Committee will be traveling during the week of October 17th to Western Canada and the week of October 31st to Eastern Canada. Below you will find the main themes that the Committee would like to discuss and the list of dates and cities where hearings are expected to be held.

1. If you wish to appear in front of the Committee this Fall, please advise us by indicating the date and city of your choice, no later than Friday, August 12th. The deadline to submit the accompanying brief is no later than Tuesday, September 6th, 2005 in order to have it translated. If you are unable to appear before the Committee, you can still submit a brief.

All briefs submitted should be less than ten (10) pages long and must include an executive summary of one (1) page prioritizing your proposals and when possible providing us with their estimated fiscal cost.
