The Standing Committee on Agriculture and Agri-Food met in camera at 3:35 p.m. this day, in Room 371 West Block, the Chair, Paul Steckle, presiding.
Members of the Committee present: Gérard Binet, Claude Duplain, Larry McCormick, Louis Plamondon, Gerry Ritz, Paul Steckle and Rose-Marie Ur.
Acting Members present: Stan Dromisky for John Maloney, Nancy Karetak-Lindell for Bob Speller and John O'Reilly for Rick Laliberte.
In attendance: Library of Parliament: Jean-Denis Fréchette, Principal.
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2), the Committee resumed consideration of its draft report on the BSE situation in Canada.
It was agreed, That the draft report, as amended, be adopted.
It was agreed, That the report be entitled: The Investigation and the Government Response Following the Discovery of a Single Case of Bovine Spongiform Encephalopathy.
It was agreed, That the Chair, Clerk and researchers be authorized to make such grammatical and editorial changes as may be necessary without changing the substance of the report.
It was agreed, That the Chair present the report to the House as the 3rd Report of the Committee.
It was agreed, That, pursuant to Standing Order 109, the Committee request that the Government table a comprehensive response to the report.
At 3:59 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
