The Standing Committee on Health met in camera at 3:31 p.m. this day, in Room 362, East Block, the Chair, Ben Lobb, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Hon. Hedy Fry, Matthew Kellway, Wladyslaw Lizon, Ben Lobb, James Lunney, Cathy McLeod, Christine Moore, Murray Rankin, David Wilks and Terence Young.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Havi Echenberg, Analyst; Marlisa Tiedemann, Analyst.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the Committee on Tuesday, October 7, 2014, the Committee resumed its study of e-cigarettes.
 

The Committee resumed consideration of a draft report.

 

It was agreed, — That the draft report, as amended, be adopted.

 

It was agreed, — That the report be entitled: "Vaping: Towards a regulatory framework for e-cigarettes".

 

It was agreed, — That the Chair, Clerk and analysts be authorized to make such grammatical and editorial changes as may be necessary without changing the substance of the report.

 

It was agreed, — That, pursuant to Standing Order 109, the Committee request that the Government table a comprehensive response to the report.

 

ORDERED, — That the Chair present the report to the House.

 

At 3:56 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 3:59 p.m., the sitting resumed.

 
The Committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to Committee business.
 

It was agreed, — That, notwithstanding the motion adopted Wednesday, October 30, 2013, concerning scopes of practice, the Committee have only two additional meetings with witnesses Tuesday, March 10, and Thursday, March 12, and that, tentatively, the Committee consider a draft report of its findings on Tuesday, April 21, 2015.

 

It was agreed, — That the Committee consider a draft report of its statutory review of the Pest Control Products Act on Thursday, March 26 and Tuesday, March 31, 2015.

 

It was agreed, — That the Committee undertake a comprehensive study of no fewer than two meetings, plus one to consider a draft report, to study the Health Canada Safety Code 6 on human exposure to electromagnetic energy, that it invite relevant witnesses to appear, and that the committee reports its findings to the House.

 

It was agreed, — That the Committee hear witnesses concerning Safety Code 6 on Tuesday, March 24, and Thursday, April 2, 2015.

 

At 5:12 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
