The Standing Committee on Veterans Affairs met at 9:03 a.m. this day, in Room 112-N, Centre Block, the Chair, Rob Anders, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Rob Anders, Rodger Cuzner, Roger Gaudet, Hon. Albina Guarnieri, Betty Hinton, Gilles-A. Perron, Bev Shipley, Brent St. Denis, Peter Stoffer, David Sweet and Roger Valley.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Michel Rossignol, Analyst.

 

Witnesses: Department of National Defence: Chantal Descôteaux, Base Surgeon Canadian Forces Base Valcartier, Acting Brigade Surgeon; Marc-André Dufour, Psychologist, Mental Health Services, Candian Forces Base Valcartier ; Margaret Ramsay, Acting Senior Staff Officer, Canadian Forces Mental Health Initiative.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the Committee on Tuesday, May 16 2006, the Committee resumed its study on the Veterans Independence Programme and Health Care Review.
 

Margaret Ramsay made a statement and, with the Maj Chantal Descôteaux and Marc-André Dufour, answered questions.

 

At 10:51 a.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 10:55 a.m., the sitting resumed.

 
The Committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to Committee business.
 

By unanimous consent, it was agreed, — That, pursuant to Standing Order 97.1 (1), the Committee present a report to the House requesting an extra 30 sitting day extension to complete its consideration of bill C-287 - An Act respecting a National Peacekeepers’ Day.

 

At 11:03 a.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
