M-33 Frederick Banting Day

43rd Parliament, 2nd Session

Motion Text

That, in the opinion of the House, the government should: (a) designate November 14 of each year as "Frederick Banting Day"; and (b) recognize that (i) one in four Canadians lives with prediabetes or diabetes, a chronic disease that can result in life-threatening complications if not treated, (ii) Canada, the birthplace of insulin, a hormone that has played a key role in the control of diabetes since being discovered by Frederick Banting, seeks to be a leader in promoting diabetes awareness and education.
