M-67 Summer residence of Sir John A. Macdonald

Motion Text

That, in the opinion of the House, the government should take steps to protect the national historic site and summer residence of Sir John A. Macdonald at Les Rochers in Rivière-du-Loup, Quebec, by: (a) making all necessary efforts to acquire the ownership of the site; (b) acknowledging the significance of the site, which hosted numerous meetings of officials and federal Cabinet to discuss matters of historical importance; (c) converting the site into an historic museum operated by Parks Canada; (d) using the location to preserve the legacy of Canada’s first Prime Minister; and (e) using the location to educate the public on one of Canada’s influential leaders.
