Introduction of Government Bills

Pursuant to Standing Orders 68(2) and 69(1), on motion of Mr. Cannon (Minister of Foreign Affairs) for Mr. Ritz (Minister of Agriculture and Agri-Food and Minister for the Canadian Wheat Board), seconded by Mr. O'Connor (Minister of State), Bill C-27, An Act to amend the Canadian Wheat Board Act, was introduced, read the first time, ordered to be printed and ordered for a second reading at the next sitting of the House.

Motions

By unanimous consent, it was ordered, — That, in relation to its study of violence against Aboriginal women, six members of the Standing Committee on the Status of Women be authorized to travel to Resolute Bay and Iqaluit, Nunavut, Labrador City, Newfoundland and Labrador, La Tuque, Quebec and Fredericton, New Brunswick, in the spring-summer of 2010, that the Committee be authorized to permit the broadcasting of its proceedings and that the necessary staff accompany the Committee.


By unanimous consent, it was ordered, — That, in relation to its study of violence against Aboriginal women, six members of the Standing Committee on the Status of Women be authorized to travel to Brantford, Ontario and Québec City and Montréal, Quebec, in the spring-summer of 2010, that the Committee be authorized to permit the broadcasting of its proceedings and that the necessary staff accompany the Committee.


By unanimous consent, it was ordered, — That, in relation to its study of violence against Aboriginal women, six members of the Standing Committee on the Status of Women be authorized to travel to Maniwaki, Quebec, in the spring-summer of 2010 and that the necessary staff accompany the Committee.


By unanimous consent, it was ordered, — That, in relation to its study of the snow crab industry in Atlantic Canada and Quebec, eight members of the Standing Committee on Fisheries and Oceans be authorized to travel to Percé, Grande-Rivière and Sainte-Thérèse-de-Gaspé, Quebec, Deer Lake and Benoit’s Cove, Newfoundland and Labrador, Sydney and Louisbourg, Nova Scotia and Moncton, New Brunswick, in the spring of 2010 and that the necessary staff accompany the Committee.


By unanimous consent, it was ordered, — That, in relation to its study of immigration as a development tool in official language minority communities, 12 members of the Standing Committee on Official Languages be authorized to travel to Ottawa, Ontario, in June of 2010, that the Committee be authorized to permit the broadcasting of its proceedings and that the necessary staff accompany the Committee.


By unanimous consent, it was ordered, — That, notwithstanding any Standing Order or usual practice of the House, when a motion to concur in the First Report of the Standing Committee on Official Languages, presented on Monday, April 19, 2010, is moved, a Member from each recognized party may speak for not more than ten minutes, following each speech, a period not exceeding five minutes shall be made available, if required, to allow Members to ask questions and comment briefly on matters relevant to the speech and to allow responses thereto, and after a Member from each of the recognized parties has spoken, or when no Member rises to speak, all questions necessary to dispose of the motion shall be deemed put and a recorded division deemed requested.
