A Call to Action: How Government and Industry Can Fight Back Against Food Price Volatility

Ottawa, May 23, 2024 -

Today, the House of Commons Standing Committee on Agriculture and Agri-Food presented a report in the House of Commons entitled “A Call to Action: How Government and Industry can Fight Back against Food Price Inflation.” In preparing this report, the Committee heard from 27 witnesses including the chief executive officers of Canada’s five largest supermarket chains, representatives from the primary production and food processing sectors, academics, and federal officials.

The report contains 10 recommendations to the Government of Canada to respond to ongoing challenges in the Canadian food supply chain.
