House Finance Committee Tables Report on Tax Avoidance and Evasion, and the CRA
Ottawa, October 26, 2016 -
Today, the House of Commons Standing Committee on Finance tabled its report, entitled The Canada Revenue Agency, Tax Avoidance and Tax Evasion: Recommended Actions. The report contains 14 recommendations.
“I know that I speak on behalf of all House Finance Committee members in expressing our hope that the 14 recommendations contained in the Committee’s report on the Canada Revenue Agency, tax avoidance and tax evasion will lead to timely federal actions,” said the Honourable Wayne Easter, P.C., M.P., Chair of the Committee.
“Certainly, everyone should pay their fair share in taxes, and the recommendations in our report will hopefully ensure that this is the case. As well, it’s important that Canada continue to contribute to global efforts, and work with international partners, in ensuring that that all taxpayers fully meet their tax obligations,” he said.
Mr. Easter concluded: “The Committee thanks everyone who made presentations to us during our study. As is always the case, the Committee is not able to do its work without the thoughtful insights and proposals of those who are invited as witnesses. We thank them for their contributions on this extremely important topic.”
