“As the House of Commons Standing Committee on Finance announced on 9 September 2016, Committee members will be travelling throughout Canada the weeks of 3 and 17 October in order to hear from groups and individuals about their budgetary priorities. In addition to our scheduled witnesses, a number of interested Canadians who were not invited to make a formal appearance will have up to one minute each to share their views with Committee members during the ‘open mic’ portion of our meeting,” said the Honourable Wayne Easter, P.C., M.P., Chair of the House Finance Committee.

“I know I speak on behalf of the Committee in saying that we are very much looking forward to meeting with Canadians, and we hope that many take advantage of our ‘open mic’ opportunity,” Mr. Easter concluded.

To participate in the ‘open mic’ portion of the Committee’s meetings on 17, 18, 19 and 20 October, individuals must submit their name to Committee staff in person at the hotel no later than 11:30 a.m. on the dates and in the locations indicated below. On 21 October, individuals must submit their name no later than 1:30 p.m. On all days, spaces will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis.

Please note that witnesses and members of the public will be required to undergo security screening and must provide photo identification before being given access to the meeting room. Line-ups may occur.
