The Standing Committee on Public Safety and National Security met in a televised session at 11:35 a.m. this day, in Room 237-C, Centre Block, the Chair, Daryl Kramp, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Rosane Doré Lefebvre, Randall Garrison, Roxanne James, Daryl Kramp, Rick Norlock, François Pilon and Rodney Weston.

 

Acting Members present: Hon. Mauril Bélanger for Hon. Wayne Easter, Brad Butt for Hon. Ted Menzies, John Carmichael for LaVar Payne, Jinny Jogindera Sims for Jean Rousseau and John Williamson for Hon. Michael D. Chong.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Tanya Dupuis, Analyst; Christine Morris, Analyst.

Pursuant to Standing Order 81(5), and the motion adopted by the Committee on Tuesday, November 26, 2013, the Committee commenced consideration of the Supplementary Estimates (B) 2013-14: Votes 5b, 10b, 15b, 20b, 25b, 45b, 50b, 55b and 65b under PUBLIC SAFETY AND EMERGENCY PREPAREDNESS, referred to the Committee on Thursday, November 7, 2013.
 

The Chair called Vote 5b PUBLIC SAFETY AND EMERGENCY PREPAREDNESS.

 

The Minister made a statement and, with the witnesses, answered questions.

 

At 12:09 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

It was agreed, — That the Clerk of the Committee follow up with Anne Kelly, Senior Deputy Commissioner of the Correctional Service of Canada regarding the request made by a member of the Committee to obtain information on the plans and budgets for repair of existing prisons.

 

It was agreed, — That the Clerk of the Committee follow up with the Commr Paulson, Commissioner of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police regarding the request made by a member of the Committee to obtain information on the costs relating to the new Royal Canadian Mounted Police headquarters.

 

It was agreed, — That the Clerk of the Committee follow up with Anne Kelly, Senior Deputy Commissioner of the Correctional Service of Canada regarding the request made by a member of the Committee to obtain information on the inmate projections and actualities.

 

At 12:54 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
