The Subcommittee on International Human Rights of the Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs and International Development met in a televised session at 1:10 p.m. this day, in Room 237-C, Centre Block, the Chair, Scott Reid, presiding.

 

Members of the Subcommittee present: Tyrone Benskin, Hon. Irwin Cotler, Nina Grewal, Wayne Marston, Scott Reid, Gary Ralph Schellenberger and David Sweet.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Erin Shaw, Analyst; Miguel Bernal-Castillero, Analyst.

 

Witnesses: Page-Rwanda: Jacques Rwirangira, Vice-President.

 

On motion of David Sweet, it was agreed, — That the Subcommittee proceed to sit in camera.

 

At 1:10 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 1:11 p.m., the sitting resumed in camera.

 
The Subcommittee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to Subcommittee business.
 

It was agreed, — That the Subcommittee invite Georgette Bennett, President of the Tannenbaum Center for Interreligious Understanding, and Gal Lusky, founder of Israel Flying Aid, to discuss their experiences as humanitarian aid workers during the ongoing conflict in Syria.

 

At 1:27 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 1:28 p.m., the sitting resumed in a public and televised session.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the Subcommittee on Tuesday, April 8, 2014, the Subcommittee resumed its study of the Aftermath of the Rwandan Genocide: A Study of the Crisis of Children Born of Rape.
 

Jacques Rwirangira made a statement and answered questions.

 

At 2:12 p.m., the Subcommittee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
