The Subcommittee on Committee Budgets of the Liaison Committee met in camera at 1:15 p.m. this day, in Room 7-52, 131 Queen Street, the Chair, Dean Allison, presiding.

 

Members of the Subcommittee present: Dean Allison, Phil McColeman, Larry Miller, Joe Preston and Chris Warkentin.

 

Acting Members present: Pierre-Luc Dusseault for David Christopherson.

 

Other Members present: Hon. Rob Merrifield and James Rajotte.

 

In attendance: House of Commons: Karen Thriepland, Coordinator, Logistics Services. Library of Parliament: Élise Hurtubise-Loranger, Analyst. Standing Committee on Human Resources, Skills and Social Development and the Status of Persons with Disabilities: Caroline Bosc, Clerk of the Committee. Standing Committee on International Trade: Paul Cardegna, Clerk of the Committee. Standing Committee on Transport, Infrastructure and Communities: Philippe Grenier-Michaud, Clerk of the Committee. Standing Committee on Finance: Christine Lafrance, Clerk of the Committee.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 107(1), the Subcommittee resumed its study on budget submissions.
 

It was agreed, — That notwithstanding the motion adopted by the Subcommittee on December 5, 2013, the Standing Committee on International Trade be granted a travel budget of $136,399.34 to travel to Chile and Peru, in the Winter-Spring of 2014, in relation to its study on the benefits for Canada in Joining the Pacific Alliance as a Full Member and Benefits for Canada of the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP).

 

It was agreed, — That the Standing Committee on Transport, Infrastructure and Communities be granted a travel budget of $55,870.80 to travel to Vancouver and Kitimat, British Columbia, Edmonton, Alberta and Winnipeg, Manitoba, in the Winter 2013-Spring 2014, in relation to its study of the Review of the Canadian Transportation Safety Regime: Transportation of Dangerous Goods and Safety Management Systems.

 

It was agreed, — That the Standing Committee on Transport, Infrastructure and Communities be granted a travel budget of $54,320.80 to travel to Sarnia and Toronto, Ontario, Montreal, Quebec and Saint John, New Brunswick, in the Winter 2013-Spring 2014, in relation to its study of the Review of the Canadian Transportation Safety Regime: Transportation of Dangerous Goods and Safety Management Systems.

 

It was agreed, — That the Standing Committee on Transport, Infrastructure and Communities be granted a travel budget of $59,095.14 to travel to Williston, North Dakota and Houston, Texas, United States of America, in the Winter 2013-Spring 2014, in relation to its study of the Review of the Canadian Transportation Safety Regime: Transportation of Dangerous Goods and Safety Management Systems.

 

It was agreed, — That the Standing Committee on Human Resources, Skills and Social Development and the Status of Persons with Disabilities be granted a travel budget of $20,724.80 to travel to Quebec City, Quebec, in the Winter-Spring 2014, in relation to its study of opportunities for aboriginal persons in the workforce.

 

It was agreed, — That the Standing Committee on Human Resources, Skills and Social Development and the Status of Persons with Disabilities be granted a travel budget of $72,250.30 to travel to Prince Rupert, Prince George and Williams Lake, British Columbia, in the Winter -Spring 2014, in relation to its study of opportunities for aboriginal persons in the workforce.

 

It was agreed, — That the Standing Committee on Finance be granted a travel budget of $64,437.47 to travel to Washington, D.C. and New York, New York, United States of America, in the Winter-Spring 2014, in relation to its study of the Pre-budget Consultations 2014.

 

The Clerk gave a presentation of the financial status of the global envelope for committee activities.

 

At 1:33 p.m., the Subcommittee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
