The Standing Committee on Natural Resources met at 8:47 a.m. this day, in Room 268, La Promenade Building, the Chair, Leon Benoit, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Leon Benoit, Kelly Block, Blaine Calkins, Chris Charlton, Joan Crockatt, Ryan Leef, Christine Moore, Hon. Geoff Regan and Brad Trost.

 

Acting Members present: Megan Anissa Leslie for Linda Duncan.

 

Associate Members present: Patricia Davidson.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Jean-Luc Bourdages, Analyst; Milana Simikian, Analyst.

 

Witnesses: Suncor Energy Inc.: Heather Kennedy, Vice-President, Government Relations, Business Services; Jean Côté, Vice-President, Montreal Refinery, Refining and Marketing. Canadian Steel Producers Association: Ron Watkins, President. Sarnia-Lambton Economic Partnership: George Mallay, General Manager. As individuals: Normand Mousseau, Professor, Department of Physics, Université de Montréal; Andrew Leach, Associate Professor, Author, Alberta School of Business, University of Alberta.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the Committee on Monday, December 9, 2013, the Committee resumed its study of the cross-Canada benefits of developing the oil and gas industry of the energy sector.
 

Heather Kennedy, Ron Watkins, George Mallay, Normand Mousseau, by videoconference from Paris, France, and Andrew Leach, by videoconference from St. John's, Newfoundland and Labrador, made statements and, with Jean Côté, answered questions.

 

At 10:48 a.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
