Meeting No. 9

Monday, December 2, 2013

The Standing Committee on Public Accounts met at 3:31 p.m. this day, in Room 237-C, Centre Block, the Chair, David Christopherson, presiding.

Members of the Committee present: Mark Adler, Dan Albas, John Carmichael, David Christopherson, Alain Giguère, Dan Harris, Bryan Hayes, Bev Shipley and Stephen Woodworth.

Acting Members present: Lysane Blanchette-Lamothe for Malcolm Allen and Francis Scarpaleggia for Scott Simms.

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Daniel Benatuil, Analyst ; Alex Smith, Analyst.

The Committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to Committee business.

Dan Albas moved, — That the Committee proceed to sit in camera.

The question was put on the motion and it was agreed to on the following recorded division: YEAS: Mark Adler, Dan Albas, John Carmichael, Bryan Hayes, Bev Shipley, Stephen Woodworth — 6; NAYS: Lysane Blanchette-Lamothe, Alain Giguère, Dan Harris, Francis Scarpaleggia — 4.

At 3:32 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 3:32 p.m., the sitting resumed in camera.

The Committee resumed consideration of matters related to Committee business.

It was agreed, — That, pursuant to Standing Order 108(3)(g), the Committee undertake studies of the following chapters of the Fall 2013 Report of the Auditor General of Canada, referred to the Committee on Tuesday, November 26, 2013:

• Chapter 2, Access to Online Services

• Chapter 5, Preventing Illegal Entry into Canada

• Chapter 7, Oversight of Rail Safety — Transport Canada

• Chapter 9, Offshore Banking — Canada Revenue Agency.

It was agreed, — That on Wednesday, December 4, 2013, the Committee consider a draft report in relation to its study of the Public Accounts of Canada 2013.

It was agreed, — That on Monday, December 9, 2013, the Committee hold a public hearing on Chapter 5, Preventing Illegal Entry into Canada or on Chapter 9, Offshore Banking — Canada Revenue Agency, of the Fall 2013 Report of the Auditor General of Canada, depending on witness availability.

It was agreed, — That on Wednesday, December 11, 2013, the Committee hold a public hearing on Chapter 2, Access to Online Services, of the Fall 2013 Report of the Auditor General of Canada.

At 3:49 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
