The Standing Committee on Industry, Science and Technology met at 8:45 a.m. this day, in Room 237-C, Centre Block, the Chair, David Sweet, presiding.

Members of the Committee present: Joyce Bateman, Raymond Côté, Cheryl Gallant, Brian Masse, Peggy Nash, Hon. Judy Sgro and David Sweet.

Acting Members present: Joe Daniel for Dave Van Kesteren, Ted Falk for Hon. Mike Lake, Megan Anissa Leslie for Peggy Nash, Hon. Peter Gordon MacKay for Hon. Judy Sgro, François Pilon for Peggy Nash and Mike Wallace for Mark Warawa.

Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the Committee on Thursday, October 30, 2014, the Committee commenced its study of the subject matter of Clauses 102 to 142 (Industrial Design Act), 174 to 182 (Radiocommunication Act) and 186 to 190 (Investment Canada Act), 191 and 192 (Broadcasting Act), 193 to 210 (Telecommunications Act) and 211 to 223 (Business Development Bank of Canada Act) of Bill C-43, A second Act to implement certain provisions of the budget tabled in Parliament on February 11, 2014 and other measures.

Lynne Fancy and Adam Scott made statements and, with Amy Jensen, answered questions.

At 9:29 a.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 9:34 a.m., the sitting resumed.

Denis Martel, Jenifer Aitkens and Jean-René Halde made statements and, with Agnès Lajoie, answered questions.

At 10:32 a.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 10:35 a.m., the sitting resumed in camera.

The Committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to Committee business.

It was agreed, — That, as part of the study of the subject matter of Clauses 102 to 142 (Industrial Design Act), 174 to 182 (Radiocommunication Act) and 186 to 190 (Investment Canada Act), 191 and 192 (Broadcasting Act), 193 to 210 (Telecommunications Act) and 211 to 223 (Business Development Bank of Canada Act) of Bill C-43, A second Act to implement certain provisions of the budget tabled in Parliament on February 11, 2014 and other measures, members of the Committee submit their list of witnesses to the Clerk no later than Monday, November 10, 2014 at 5:00 p.m.

At 10:39 a.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
