The Standing Committee on the Status of Women met at 11:01 a.m. this day, in Room 228, The Valour Building, the Chair, Hélène LeBlanc, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: John Barlow, Joyce Bateman, Joan Crockatt, Kirsty Duncan, Mylène Freeman, Hélène LeBlanc, Tilly O'Neill Gordon, Pat Perkins and Susan Truppe.

 

Acting Members present: Sadia Groguhé for Djaouida Sellah, Matthew Kellway for Djaouida Sellah and Bob Zimmer for Pat Perkins.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Laura Munn-Rivard, Analyst.

 

Witnesses: Statistics Canada: Alison Hale, Director, Labour Statistics Division.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the Committee on Thursday, February 26, 2015, the Committee resumed its study of women in skilled trades and science, technology, engineering and mathematics occupations.
 

Alison Hale made a statement and answered questions.

 

At 11:56 a.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 12:02 p.m., the sitting resumed in camera.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the Committee on Monday, March 31, 2014, the Committee resumed its study of economic leadership and prosperity of Canadian women.
 

The Committee resumed consideration of a draft report.

 

It was agreed, — That the draft report be adopted.

 

It was agreed, — That the report be entitled: "The Economic Leadership and Prosperity of Canadian Women".

 

It was agreed, — That the Chair, Clerk and Analyst be authorized to make such grammatical and editorial changes as may be necessary without changing the substance of the report.

 

It was agreed, — That, pursuant to Standing Order 109, the Committee request that the Government table a comprehensive response to the report.

 

It was agreed, — That the Chair present the report to the House.

 

It was agreed, — That the Committee append to its report dissenting and/or supplementary opinions from the NDP and Liberal parties, immediately after the signature of the Chair, provided that they are no more than ten (10) pages in length in Arial twelve (12) point font, line spacing of two (2) and submitted electronically, in both official languages, to the Clerk of the Committee, no later than 12:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 2, 2015.

 
The Committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to Committee business.
 

It was agreed, — That, pursuant to Standing Order 81(4), the Committee invite the Honourable Kellie Leitch, Minister responsible for the Status of Women, to appear before the Committee regarding the Main Estimates 2015-2016, before May 29, 2015, and that this meeting be televised.

 

It was agreed, — That a proposed budget in the amount of $28,000.00, for the study of women in skilled trades and science, technology, engineering and mathematics occupations, be adopted.

 

At 12:34 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
