The Standing Committee on the Status of Women met at 3:30 p.m. this day, in Room 228, La Promenade Building, the Chair, Hélène LeBlanc, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Stella Ambler, Niki Ashton, Joan Crockatt, Hélène LeBlanc, Tilly O'Neill Gordon, Djaouida Sellah, Susan Truppe, Terence Young and Wai Young.

 

Acting Members present: Sean Casey for Kirsty Duncan.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Laura Munn-Rivard, Analyst.

 

Witnesses: Canadian Centre for Policy Alternatives: Kate McInturff, Senior Researcher, National Office. Catalyst Canada Inc.: Alex Johnston, Executive Director. Alberta Federation of Labour: Shannon Phillips, Director, Policy Analysis.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the Committee on Monday, March 31, 2014, the Committee resumed its study of economic leadership and prosperity of Canadian women.
 

Shannon Phillips, by videoconference from Edmonton, Alberta, Kate McInturff and Alex Johnston, made statements and answered questions.

 

At 5:15 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 5:18 p.m., the sitting resumed in camera.

 
The Committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to Committee business.
 

It was agreed, — That sections containing personal information about a witness be struck from the public record of the Committee’s meeting of Wednesday, March 5, 2014, including the evidence and the audio recording.

 

It was agreed, — That, in regard to the study of economic leadership and prosperity of Canadian women and the motion adopted by the Committee on Monday, March 31, 2014, each party send a list of two (2) additional witnesses to the Clerk by Wednesday, May 7, 2014.

 

At 5:26 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
