The Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs and International Development met in camera at 12:17 p.m. this day, in Room 237-C, Centre Block, the Chair, Dean Allison, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Dean Allison, Lois Brown, Paul Dewar, Marc Garneau, Peter Goldring, Hon. Laurie Hawn, Hélène Laverdière, Romeo Saganash, Gary Ralph Schellenberger and Bernard Trottier.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Allison Goody, Analyst; Brian Hermon, Analyst.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the Committee on Tuesday, November 4, 2014, the Committee resumed its study of Canada's Response to the Violence, Religious Persecution and Dislocation Caused by the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL).
 
The Committee proceeded to give drafting instructions to the analysts for a report
 

At 12:19 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 12:20 p.m., the sitting resumed.

 
The Committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to Committee business.
 

It was agreed, — That the Committee invite the Ministers to appear before it, pursuant to Standing Order 81(4) and 81(7), following the referral to the Committee of the Main Estimates 2015-16 and the related reports on plans and priorities; and that this meeting be televised if possible.

 

It was agreed, — That, in relation to its study of the situation in Ukraine and the motion adopted by the Committee on Monday, February 3, 2014, the Committee invite departmental officials to appear before it and provide an update.

 

It was agreed, — That, on Tuesday, March 10, 2015, the Committee meet informally with a parliamentary delegation from Romania.

 

It was agreed, — That the Committee invite Martin C.M. Lee to appear before it on Tuesday, March 10, 2015, to testify on recent developments in Hong Kong.

 

At 12:40 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
