The Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs and International Development met at 3:32 p.m. this day, in Room 306, La Promenade Building, the Chair, Dean Allison, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Dean Allison, David Anderson, Lois Brown, Paul Dewar, Nina Grewal, Romeo Saganash and Gary Ralph Schellenberger.

 

Acting Members present: Fin Donnelly for Hélène Laverdière, Jim Hillyer for Peter Goldring and Ted Hsu for Marc Garneau.

 

Associate Members present: Peter Braid.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Allison Goody, Analyst; James Lee, Analyst.

 

Witnesses: Right To Play: Evelyne Guindon, Vice President, International Programs. War Child Canada: Samantha Nutt, Founder and Executive Director; Lorna Read, Chief Operating Officer. World Vision Canada: Elly Vandenberg, Senior Director, Policy and Advocacy. UNICEF: Susan Bissell, Associate Director, Programmes Division, Child Protection.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the Committee on Wednesday, April 9, 2014, the Committee commenced its study of the Protection of Children and Youth in Developing Countries.
 

Samantha Nutt and Evelyne Guindon each made a statement and, with Lorna Read, answered questions.

 

At 4:29 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 4:33 p.m., the sitting resumed.

 

Elly Vandenberg and Susan Bissell each made a statement and answered questions.

 

At 5:15 p.m., by unanimous consent and pursuant to Standing Order 115(5), it was agreed that the Committee continue to sit.

 

At 5:22 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
