The Standing Committee on International Trade met at 8:48 a.m. this day, in Room 306, The Valour Building, the Chair, Randy Hoback, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Hon. Ron Cannan, Don Davies, Randy Hoback, Laurin Liu, Marc-André Morin, Erin O'Toole, Massimo Pacetti and Devinder Shory.

 

Acting Members present: Nina Grewal for Russ Hiebert and Blake Richards for Hon. Rob Merrifield.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Alexandre Gauthier, Analyst; Pascal Tremblay, Analyst. House of Commons: David Chandonnet, Procedural Clerk.

 

Witnesses: Canadian Agri-Food Trade Alliance: Claire Citeau, Executive Director; Martin Rice, Director. Canadian Council of Chief Executives: Ailish Campbell, Vice-President, Policy, International and Fiscal Issues. United Food and Commercial Workers Union: Bob Linton, Director, Legislative Affairs. Malting Industry Association of Canada: Philip de Kemp, President. Forest Products Association of Canada: David L. Lindsay, President and Chief Executive Officer. Kocani Biz & Edu: David Lee, President. Korean Cultural Heritage Society: Mike M. Suk, Director and spokesman.

 
Pursuant to the Order of Reference of Wednesday, October 1, 2014, the Committee resumed consideration of Bill C-41, An Act to implement the Free Trade Agreement between Canada and the Republic of Korea.
 

Bob Linton, by videoconference from Scarborough, Ontario, Claire Citeau and Ailish Campbell made statements and, with Martin Rice and Phil de Kemp, answered questions.

 

At 9:56 a.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 10:03 a.m., the sitting resumed.

 

David L. Lindsay, Mike M. Suk and David Lee made statements and answered questions.

 

At 10:45 a.m., by unanimous consent and pursuant to Standing Order 115(5), it was agreed that the Committee continue to sit until the end of the first round of questions.

 

At 10:49 a.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
