The Standing Committee on International Trade met at 11:03 a.m. this day, in Room 306, La Promenade Building, the Chair, the Hon. Rob Merrifield, presiding.

Members of the Committee present: Russ Hiebert, Hon. Rob Merrifield, Marc-André Morin, Erin O'Toole, Massimo Pacetti and Devinder Shory.

Acting Members present: Dan Albas for Hon. Ron Cannan, Raymond Côté for Don Davies, Ed Komarnicki for Randy Hoback, Phil McColeman for Hon. Ron Cannan and Jonathan Tremblay for Laurin Liu.

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Alexandre Gauthier, Analyst ; Pascal Tremblay, Analyst.

Witnesses: Information Technology Association of Canada: Karna Gupta, President and Chief Executive Officer. As an individual: Keith Head, Professor, Sauder School of Business, Strategy and Business Economics Division, HSBC Professorship of Asian Commerce, University of British Columbia. Canadian Chamber of Commerce: Cam Vidler, Director, International Policy. As an individual: Lorna Wright, EDC Professor of International Business, Director, Centre for Global Enterprise, Schulich School of Business, York University.

Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the Committee on Tuesday, March 25, 2014, the Committee resumed its study of the positive effects of the Global Markets Action Plan.

Cam Vidler made a statement and answered questions.

At 11:50 a.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 11:56 a.m., the sitting resumed.

Keith Head, by videoconference from Vancouver, British Columbia, Lorna Wright and Karna Gupta made statements and answered questions.

At 1:01 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
