The Standing Committee on Agriculture and Agri-Food met at 3:34 p.m. this day, in Room 8-53, 131 Queen Street, the Chair, Bev Shipley, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Alex Atamanenko, Ruth Ellen Brosseau, Hon. Mark Eyking, Richard M. Harris, Randy Hoback, Pierre Lemieux, LaVar Payne, Joe Preston, Francine Raynault, Bev Shipley and Bob Zimmer.

 

Acting Members present: Guy Caron for Malcolm Allen.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Frédéric Forge, Analyst; Khamla Heminthavong, Analyst.

 

Witnesses: Alberta Pork Producers Development Corporation: Darcy Fitzgerald, Executive Director. Canadian Pork Council: Jean-Guy Vincent, Chair; Martin Rice, Executive Director. National Cattle Feeders' Association: Bryan Walton, General Manager; André Roy, Executive Director of the Fédération des producteurs de bovins du Québec and Member. Canadian Restaurant and Foodservices Association: Garth Whyte, President and Chief Executive Officer; Susan Senecal, Chief Marketing Officer, A & W Food Services of Canada Inc., Chair of the Board of Directors .

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the Committee on Tuesday, October 29, 2013, the Committee resumed its study of the Canada-European Union Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement (CETA) and the effects of it on the Canadian agriculture sector.
 

Bryan Walton, André Roy and Darcy Fitzgerald, by videoconference from Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, made statements and answered questions.

 

At 4:32 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 4:36 p.m., the sitting resumed.

 

Jean-Guy Vincent, Susan Senecal and Garth Whyte made statements and, with Martin Rice, answered questions.

 

At 5:32 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
