The Standing Committee on Agriculture and Agri-Food met at 3:31 p.m. this day, in Room 8-53, 131 Queen Street, the Chair, Bev Shipley, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Alex Atamanenko, Ruth Ellen Brosseau, Randy Hoback, Pierre Lemieux, LaVar Payne, Joe Preston, Francine Raynault and Bev Shipley.

 

Acting Members present: Leon Benoit for Richard M. Harris, Don Davies for Malcolm Allen, Hon. Wayne Easter for Hon. Mark Eyking and Rick Norlock for Bob Zimmer.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Frédéric Forge, Analyst; Khamla Heminthavong, Analyst.

 

Witnesses: Dairy Farmers of Canada: Wally Smith, President; Richard Doyle, Executive Director. Grain Growers of Canada: Franck Groeneweg, Director; Janet Krayden, Analyst. Glengarry Cheesemaking Inc.: Margaret Peters Morris, President. As an individual: Roslyn Kunin.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the Committee on Tuesday, October 29, 2013, the Committee resumed its study of the Canada-European Union Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement (CETA) and the effects of it on the Canadian agriculture sector.
 

Wally Smith and Margaret Peters Morris made statements and, with Richard Doyle, answered questions.

 

At 4:30 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 4:32 p.m., the sitting resumed.

 

Franck Groeneweg and Roslyn Kunin, by videoconference from Vancouver, British Columbia, made statements and, with Janet Krayden, answered questions.

 

At 5:29 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 5:31 p.m., the sitting resumed in camera.

 
The Committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to Committee business.
 

At 5:33 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
