The Standing Committee on Veterans Affairs met in camera at 3:34 p.m. this day, in Room 253-D, Centre Block, the Chair, Greg Kerr, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Sylvain Chicoine, Parm Gill, Hon. Laurie Hawn, Bryan Hayes, Greg Kerr, Wladyslaw Lizon, John Rafferty and Peter Stoffer.

 

Acting Members present: Hon. Lawrence MacAulay for Hon. Jim Karygiannis and Dave MacKenzie for Royal Galipeau.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Jean-Rodrigue Paré, Analyst.

 
The Committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to Committee business.
 

It was agreed, — That the Committee invite the Minister of Veterans Affairs to appear in order to discuss the Supplementary Estimates (C) 2013-14.

 

It was agreed, — That the Committee accept the following as core themes of the Statutory Review of the Enhanced New Veterans Charter Act:

1. Care and support of the most seriously injured;

2. Support for families;

3. Improving how Veterans Affairs delivers the programs, services and benefits of the New Veterans Charter.

 

It was agreed, — That all Veterans groups and/or individuals who represent Veterans' groups be asked to submit a position paper on the New Veterans Charter that highlights their current position and outlines the input, if any, that the organization provided when the New Veterans Charter was developed pre-2005.

 

It was agreed, — That the following witnesses be invited to appear in relation to the Statutory Review of the Enhanced New Veterans Charter Act:

NATO Veterans Organization of Canada; National Council of Veteran Associations in Canada; Royal Canadian Legion; Veterans Transition Network; Veterans Emergency Transition Services; Military Minds Association; Wounded Warriors Canada; Medric Cousineau; Canadian Veterans Advocacy; and UN Peace Keepers Association.

 

At 4:17 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
