The Standing Committee on Veterans Affairs met in camera at 3:30 p.m. this day, in Room 112-N, Centre Block, the Chair, Greg Kerr, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Sylvain Chicoine, Royal Galipeau, Parm Gill, Hon. Laurie Hawn, Bryan Hayes, Hon. Jim Karygiannis, Greg Kerr and Peter Stoffer.

 

Acting Members present: Christine Moore for John Rafferty.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Jean-Rodrigue Paré, Analyst.

 
The Committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to Committee business.
 

It was agreed, — That when the Committee is meeting to discuss Committee business, notice is not required in order for a member to move a motion, provided that the said motion is related to Committee business.

 

It was agreed, — That the Committee’s Order of Tuesday, October 29, 2013, establishing the Subcommittee on Agenda and Procedure, be discharged and that future business be discussed and decided upon by the Committee.

 

It was agreed, — That, once a witness list is agreed upon by the Committee and witnesses have been invited to appear on a specified date, no additional witnesses be permitted to appear before the Committee on that date.

 

It was agreed, — That, further to the Order adopted by the House on Tuesday, December 3, 2013, regarding changes to committee memberships, the Committee’s routine motion regarding the questioning of witnesses be replaced by the following:

That the witnesses from any organization shall be allowed up to 10 minutes for their opening statement; that only witnesses that have been pre-approved by the Committee and listed on the Notice of Meeting appear; that during the questioning of witnesses, there be allocated six minutes for the first round of questioning; and that the order of questions for the first round of questioning shall be as follows: Official Opposition, Government, Third Party, Government, Official Opposition, Government, Government, Official Opposition, Government.

 

At 3:41 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
