The Subcommittee on International Human Rights of the Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs and International Development met at 1:06 p.m. this day, in Room 237-C, Centre Block, the Chair, Scott Reid, presiding.

 

Members of the Subcommittee present: Hon. Irwin Cotler, Nina Grewal, Russ Hiebert, Wayne Marston, Ève Péclet, Scott Reid and David Sweet.

 

Acting Members present: LaVar Payne for Nina Grewal.

 

Other Members present: Lois Brown.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Melissa Radford, Analyst; Charlotte Landry, Research Assistant.

 

Witnesses: Department of Foreign Affairs and International Trade: Patricia Malikail, Director General, Africa Bureau; Marie Gervais-Vidricaire, Director General, Stabilization and Reconstruction Task Force. Canadian International Development Agency: Julia Hill, Acting Senior Vice President, Geographic Programs Branch; Christopher MacLennan, Director General, Thematic and Sectoral Policy, Strategic Policy and Performance.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the Subcommittee on Thursday, October 20, 2011, the Subcommittee resumed its study on the sexual violence against women used systematically as a weapon of war in the Democratic Republic of Congo.
 

Marie Gervais-Vidricaire, Patricia Malikail and Julia Hill made statements and answered questions.

 

At 2:02 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 2:03 p.m., the sitting resumed in camera.

 
The Subcommittee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to Subcommittee business.
 

At 2:11 p.m., the Subcommittee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
