The Standing Committee on Natural Resources met at 3:30 p.m. this day, in Room 268, La Promenade Building, the Chair, Leon Benoit, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Mike Allen, David Anderson, Leon Benoit, Blaine Calkins, Joan Crockatt, Marc Garneau, Claude Gravelle, Ryan Leef, Jamie Nicholls and Brad Trost.

 

Acting Members present: Dennis Bevington for Peter Julian and François Choquette for Laurin Liu.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Jean-Luc Bourdages, Analyst; Milana Simikian, Analyst.

 

Witnesses: As an individual: Madelaine Drohan, Canada Correspondent, The Economist. Canadian Gas Association: Timothy M. Egan, President and Chief Executive Officer. Cameco Corporation: Jeff Hryhoriw, Director, Government Relations. Canadian Association of Petroleum Producers: Greg Stringham, Vice-President, Markets and Oil Sands. Pembina Institute: Nathan Lemphers, Policy Analyst, Oilsands; Tim Weis, Director, Renewable Energy and Efficiency Policy.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 106(2), the Committee proceeded to the election of a Vice-Chair.
 

On motion of Blaine Calkins, it was agreed, — That Marc Garneau be elected Second Vice-Chair of the Committee.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the Committee on Tuesday, March 5, 2013, the Committee resumed its study of market diversification in the energy sector.
 

Madelaine Drohan, Timothy M. Egan, Greg Stringham, Jeff Hryhoriw, Nathan Lemphers and Tim Weis, by videoconference from Edmonton, Alberta, made statements and answered questions.

 

At 5:18 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
