The Standing Committee on Natural Resources met in a televised session at 3:30 p.m. this day, in Room 253-D, Centre Block, the Chair, Leon Benoit, presiding.

Members of the Committee present: Mike Allen, David Anderson, Leon Benoit, Blaine Calkins, Joan Crockatt, Claude Gravelle, Ted Hsu, Peter Julian, Laurin Liu, Jamie Nicholls and Brad Trost.

Acting Members present: Richard M. Harris for Ryan Leef.

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Jean-Luc Bourdages, Analyst.

Appearing: Hon. Joe Oliver, P.C., M.P., Minister of Natural Resources.

Witnesses: Department of Natural Resources: Serge Dupont, Deputy Minister; Kami Ramcharan, Assistant Deputy Minister and Chief Financial Officer, Corporate Management and Services Sector; Anil Arora, Assistant Deputy Minister, Science and Policy Integration.

Pursuant to Standing Order 81(4), the Committee commenced consideration of the Main Estimates 2013-14: Votes 1, 5, 10, 15, 20, 25 and 30 under NATURAL RESOURCES referred to the Committee on Monday, February 25, 2013.

The Chair called Vote 1 under NATURAL RESOURCES.

The Minister made a statement and, with Serge Dupont, answered questions.

At 4:36 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 4:38 p.m., the sitting resumed.

Serge Dupont et Anil Arora answered questions.

At 5:18 p.m., by unanimous consent and pursuant to Standing Order 115(5), it was agreed that the Committee continue to sit.
