The Standing Committee on National Defence met at 3:35 p.m. this day, in Room 362, East Block, the Chair, James Bezan, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Chris Alexander, James Bezan, Corneliu Chisu, Cheryl Gallant, Jack Harris, Jean-François Larose, Hon. John McKay, Christine Moore, Rick Norlock, Ted Opitz and Mark Strahl.

 

Acting Members present: Randy Hoback for Ted Opitz and Jamie Nicholls for Tarik Brahmi.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Wolfgang Koerner, Analyst; Melissa Radford, Analyst.

 

Witnesses: Department of National Defence: Alexandra Heber, Psychiatrist and Manager, Operational and Trauma Stress Support Centres; Huguette Gélinas, Quebec Coordinator, Health Services Civilian-Military Cooperation, Canadian Forces. Wounded Warriors Canada: Derrick Gleed, Board Vice-Chair and Chief Financial Officer; Phil Ralph, Padre and Program Director, Regimental Chaplain, 32 Combat Regiment, Toronto.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the Committee on Thursday, September 29, 2011, the Committee resumed its study of the Care of Ill and Injured Canadian Forces Members.
 

LCol Alexandra Heber and Huguette Gélinas made statements and answered questions.

 

At 4:32 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 4:37 p.m., the sitting resumed.

 

Derrick Gleed made a statement and, with Phil Ralph, answered questions.

 
The Committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to Committee business.
 

By unanimous consent, Jack Harris moved, — That the Committee invite the Auditor General of Canada to appear before the Committee to discuss his report on Federal Search and Rescue Activities found in Chapter 7 of the Spring 2013 Report of the Auditor General of Canada.

 

After debate, the question was put on the motion and it was negatived on the following recorded division: YEAS: Jack Harris, Jean-François Larose, John McKay, Christine Moore, Jamie Nicholls — 5; NAYS: Chris Alexander, Corneliu Chisu, Cheryl Gallant, Rick Norlock, Ted Opitz, Mark Strahl — 6.

 

At 5:33 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
