The Standing Committee on Environment and Sustainable Development met at 3:26 p.m. this day, in Room 306, La Promenade Building, the Chair, Mark Warawa, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Stella Ambler, François Choquette, Kirsty Duncan, James Lunney, François Pilon, Anne Minh-Thu Quach, Michelle Rempel, Robert Sopuck, Lawrence Toet, Mark Warawa and Stephen Woodworth.

 

Acting Members present: David Anderson for Lawrence Toet and Hélène LeBlanc for Megan Anissa Leslie.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Tim Williams, Analyst.

 

Witnesses: Canadian Federation of Agriculture: Ron Bonnett, President. Keystone Agricultural Producers: Doug Chorney, President. Canada's Oil Sands Innovation Alliance: Judy Fairburn, Chair, Shareholder Steering Committee; Alan Fair, Interim Director, Tailing Environmental Priority Area.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the Committee on Tuesday, January 31, 2012, the Committee resumed its study to provide recommendations regarding the development of a national conservation plan.
 

Ron Bonnett and Doug Chorney made statements and answered questions.

 

At 4:30 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 4:32 p.m., the sitting resumed.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the Committee on Tuesday, April 3, 2012, the Committee commenced its study of the mandate of Canada's Oil Sands Innovation Alliance.
 

Judy Fairburn, by videoconference from Calgary, Alberta, made a statement and, with Alan Fair, by videoconference from Calgary, answered questions.

 

At 5:30 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
