The Standing Committee on International Trade met at 3:31 p.m. this day, in Room 268, La Promenade Building, the Chair, the Hon. Rob Merrifield, presiding.

Members of the Committee present: Hon. Ron Cannan, Don Davies, Hon. Wayne Easter, Russ Hiebert, Ed Holder, Gerald Keddy, Hon. Rob Merrifield, Marc-André Morin, Annick Papillon, Jasbir Sandhu, Bev Shipley and Devinder Shory.

Acting Members present: Wai Young for Russ Hiebert.

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Alexandre Gauthier, Analyst.

Witnesses: Department of Foreign Affairs and International Trade: Catherine Gosselin, Deputy Director and Deputy Chief Trade Negotiator, Canada-India Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement; Shendra Melia, Deputy Director, Services Trade Policy; Luc Santerre, Director, South, Southeast Asia and Oceania Commercial Relations; Don Stephenson, Chief Trade Negotiator, Canada-India Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement.

Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the Committee on Tuesday, September 27, 2011, the Committee resumed its study of a comprehensive economic partnership agreement (CEPA) with India.

Don Stephenson made a statement and, with Luc Santerre and Shendra Melia, answered questions.

At 5:08 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 5:10 p.m., the sitting resumed in camera.

The Committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to Committee business.

At 5:14 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
