The Standing Committee on International Trade met at 11:02 a.m. this day, in Room 268, La Promenade Building, the Chair, the Hon. Rob Merrifield, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Ron Cannan, Raymond Côté, Hon. Wayne Easter, Russ Hiebert, Ed Holder, Gerald Keddy, Hon. Rob Merrifield, Marc-André Morin, Annick Papillon, Bev Shipley and Devinder Shory.

 

Acting Members present: Don Davies for Mathieu Ravignat, Roxanne James for Ed Holder, Cathy McLeod for Devinder Shory and Wai Young for Russ Hiebert.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Alexandre Gauthier, Analyst.

 

Witnesses: Council of Canadians: Garry Neil, Executive Director. United Steelworkers: Mark Rowlinson, Labour Lawyer.

 
Pursuant to the Order of Reference of Monday, March 5, 2012, and the motion adopted by the Committee on Thursday, February 2, 2012, the Committee resumed consideration of Bill C-23, An Act to implement the Free Trade Agreement between Canada and the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, the Agreement on the Environment between Canada and the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan and the Agreement on Labour Cooperation between Canada and the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan.
 

Garry Neil and Mark Rowlinson made statements and answered questions.

 

At 12:27 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 12:31 p.m., the sitting resumed in camera.

 
The Committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to Committee business.
 

It was agreed, — That the Committee undertake a study on a Canada-Japan bilateral trade agreement.

 

At 12:42 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
