The Standing Committee on International Trade met in camera at 11:06 a.m. this day, in Room 306, La Promenade Building, the Chair, the Hon. Rob Merrifield, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Ron Cannan, Raymond Côté, Ed Holder, Gerald Keddy, Hon. Rob Merrifield, Ève Péclet, Bev Shipley and Devinder Shory.

 

Acting Members present: Bob Dechert for Russ Hiebert, Mylène Freeman for Mathieu Ravignat, Marc-André Morin for Brian Masse and Lise St-Denis for Hon. Wayne Easter.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Alexandre Gauthier, Analyst.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the Committee on Tuesday, September 27, 2011, the Committee resumed its study of the Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement (CETA) with the European Union.
 

The Committee resumed consideration of a draft report.

 

It was agreed, — That the draft report, as amended, be adopted.

 

It was agreed, — That the report be entitled: “Negotiations toward a Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement (CETA) between Canada and the European Union”.

 

It was agreed, — That the Chair present the report to the House.

 

It was agreed, — That, pursuant to Standing Order 109, the Committee request that the Government table a comprehensive response to the report.

 

It was agreed, — That the Chair, Clerk and Analysts be authorized to make such grammatical and editorial changes as may be necessary without changing the substance of the report.

 

It was agreed, — That the Committee append to its report any dissenting and / or supplementary opinions provided that they are no more than 6 pages in length, in the same style and format as the report (Arial, 12 point, single space); and that they be submitted electronically in both official languages to the Clerk of the Committee, no later than Thursday, March 8, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. (Eastern Standard Time).

 

It was agreed, — That the Analysts prepare a press release to be issued immediately upon the presentation of the report in the House of Commons.

 
The Committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to Committee business.
 

It was agreed, — That, as part of its study of the Main Estimates for the fiscal year ending March 31, 2013, the Committee invite to appear, on Tuesday, March 13, 2012, the Minister of International Trade for one hour and senior officials from the Department of Foreign affairs and International Trade for the other hour.

 

At 11:30 a.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
