The Standing Committee on Canadian Heritage met at 3:32 p.m. this day, in Room 7-52, 131 Queen Street, the Chair, the Hon. Rob Moore, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Scott Armstrong, Gordon Brown, Paul Calandra, Andrew Cash, Matthew Dubé, Parm Gill, Jim Hillyer, Hon. Rob Moore, Pierre Nantel, Scott Simms, Rathika Sitsabaiesan and Terence Young.

 

Other Members present: Jinny Jogindera Sims.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Michael Dewing, Analyst; Marion Ménard, Analyst.

 

Appearing: Hon. Jason Kenney, P.C., M.P., Minister of Citizenship, Immigration and Multiculturalism.

 

Witnesses: Department of Citizenship and Immigration: Sharon Chomyn, Director General, International Region; David Manicom, Director General, Immigration Branch. Department of Human Resources and Skills Development: Steven West, Director, Temporary Foreign Worker Program. Silicon Sisters Interactive: Brenda Gershkovitch, Chief Executive Officer. Gamercamp: Jaime Woo, Festival Director and Co-Founder. University of Alberta: Sean Gouglas, Director, Associate Professor, Interdisciplinary Studies, Faculty of Arts.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the Committee on Thursday, October 4, 2012, the Committee resumed its study on the Canadian entertainment software industry.
 

The Minister made a statement and, with Sharon Chomyn and Steven West, answered questions.

 

At 4:31 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 4:35 p.m., the sitting resumed.

 

By unanimous consent, on motion of Pierre Nantel, it was agreed, — That, notwithstanding the routine motion adopted on Tuesday, June 21, 2011, a document only available in English and provided by one of the witnesses be distributed to all Committee Members in its original English version.

 

Brenda Gershkovitch, Jaime Woo and Sean Gouglas made statements and answered questions.

 

At 5:29 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
