The Standing Committee on Agriculture and Agri-Food met in a televised session at 3:29 p.m. this day, in Room 237-C, Centre Block, the Chair, Larry Miller, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Malcolm Allen, Alex Atamanenko, Randy Hoback, Pierre Lemieux, Ben Lobb, Larry Miller, LaVar Payne, Francine Raynault, Jean Rousseau, Brian Storseth, Frank Valeriote and Bob Zimmer.

 

In attendance: House of Commons: Mariane Beaudin, Procedural Clerk. Library of Parliament: Frédéric Forge, Analyst; Khamla Heminthavong, Analyst.

 

Appearing: Hon. Mr. Gerry Ritz, P.C., M.P., Minister of Agriculture and Agri-Food.

Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the Committee on Thursday, September 29, 2011, the Committee resumed its study on Growing Forward 2 (Competitive Enterprises).
 

Gregory J. Aziz, Michael Hugh Nicholson, Marion Wrobel and Greg Stewart made statements and, with Bertrand Montel, Peter Brown, David Rinneard and Lyndon Carlson, answered questions.

 

At 4:31 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 4:35 p.m., the sitting resumed.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 81(5), the Committee commenced consideration of the Supplementary Estimates (B) 2011-12: Votes 1b, 10b, 20b and 25b under AGRICULTURE AND AGRI-FOOD referred to the Committee on Thursday, November 3, 2011.
 

The Chair called Vote 1b under AGRICULTURE AND AGRI-FOOD.

 

The Minister made a statement and, with George Da Pont, answered questions.
