The Standing Committee on Aboriginal Affairs and Northern Development met at 11:01 a.m. this day, in Room 362, East Block, the Chair, Chris Warkentin, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Hon. Carolyn Bennett, Ray Boughen, Rob Clarke, Linda Duncan, LaVar Payne, John Rafferty, Greg Rickford, Kyle Seeback, Chris Warkentin and David Wilks.

 

Acting Members present: Jean Rousseau for Dennis Bevington.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Tonina Simeone, Analyst; Marlisa Tiedemann, Analyst.

 
The Committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to Committee business.
 

Greg Rickford moved, — That the witnesses from an organization be given up to ten (10) minutes at the discretion of the Chair to make their opening statement. During the questioning of the witnesses, there shall be allocated seven (7) minutes for the 1st round of questioning and thereafter five (5) minutes shall be allocated to each questioner in the 2nd and subsequent rounds of questioning. That the order of questions for the first round be as follows: NDP, CPC, LIB and CPC. That the order of questions for the second round be as follows: NDP, CPC, NDP, CPC, NDP and CPC. That the order of questions for the third round be as follows: NDP, CPC, LIB and CPC. That the order of questions for the fourth round be as follows: NDP, CPC, NDP, CPC, NDP and CPC.

 

After debate, the question was put on the motion and it was agreed to on division.

 

Rob Clarke moved, — That the Standing Committee on Aboriginal Affairs and Northern Development consider a resolution to recognize the important contributions of Aboriginal men and women whose support was pivotal to the British Crown (and subsequently Canada) in the War of 1812; and that a report on the resolution be presented to the House for concurrence and unanimous consent.

Debate arose thereon.

 

By unanimous consent, the motion was withdrawn.

 

At 11:30 a.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
