The Standing Committee on Transport, Infrastructure and Communities met at 9:03 a.m. this day, in Room 269, West Block, the Chair, Merv Tweed, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Dennis Bevington, Lois Brown, Bonnie Crombie, Sukh Dhaliwal, Brian Jean, Mario Laframboise, Colin Mayes, Blake Richards, Merv Tweed, Hon. Joseph Volpe and Jeff Watson.

 

Acting Members present: Yvon Lévesque for Roger Gaudet.

 

Associate Members present: Gerard Kennedy.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: John Christopher, Analyst.

 

Witnesses: Transportation Safety Board of Canada: Wendy A. Tadros, Chair; Mark Clitsome, Director of Air Investigations; Jean L. Laporte, Chief Operating Officer.

 
The Committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to Committee business.
 

The Committee resumed debate on the motion of Brian Jean.

 

The motion read as follows:

That the Standing Committee on Transport, Infrastructure and Communities present a report to the House of Commons regarding a possible breach of privilege and/or action of contempt on the part of the MP for Parkdale-High Park in divulging privileged information from an in camera meeting of the Standing Committee on Transport, Infrastructure and Communities on March 25, 2010, against the will of the committee and with the intention of sharing this information with the public, and that the Committee ask the House to take whatever action it deems necessary.

 

After debate, the question was put on the motion and it was agreed to, by a show of hands: YEAS: 7; NAYS: 4.

 

It was agreed, — That the text circulated by Brian Jean form the Committee's report to the House on the Question of Privilege.

 

At 9:22 a.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 9:25 a.m., the sitting resumed.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the Committee on March, 25, 2010, the Committee resumed its study of Aviation Safety and Security - Safety Management Systems for the Aviation Industry.
 

Wendy A. Tadros made a statement and, with the other witnesses, answered questions.

 

At 11:01 a.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
