The Standing Committee on Natural Resources met by videoconference at 9:06 a.m. this day, in Room 253-D, Centre Block, the Chair, Leon Benoit, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Mike Allen, David Anderson, Hon. Navdeep Bains, Leon Benoit, Paule Brunelle, Claude Guimond, Richard M. Harris, Hon. Geoff Regan, Devinder Shory and Alan Tonks.

 

Acting Members present: Cheryl Gallant for Russ Hiebert, Bruce Hyer for Nathan Cullen and Christian Ouellet for Claude Guimond.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Jean-Luc Bourdages, Analyst.

 

Witnesses: As an individual: Eric Turcotte, Medical Specialist in Nuclear Medicine, Clinical Head of the Molecular Imaging Centre of Sherbrooke. Lantheus Medical Imaging: Cyrille Villeneuve, Vice-President and General Manager, International; William Dawes, Vice-President, Manufacturing and Supply Chain. As individuals: Daniel Banks; Gordon Tapp. TRIUMF: Tim Meyer, Head, Strategic Planning and Communications.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the Committee on March 16, 2010, the Committee commenced its study of the Status of the NRU Reactor and the Supply of Medical Isotopes.
 

Cyrille Villeneuve and, Eric Turcotte by videoconference from Sherbrooke, Quebec, made statements and, with William Jr. Dawes, answered questions.

 

At 10:03 a.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 10:08 a.m., the sitting resumed.

 

Daniel Banks and Tim Meyer made statements and, with Gordon Tapp, answered questions.

 

By unanimous consent, the Committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to Committee business.

 

By unanimous consent, it was agreed, — That the proposed budget in the amount of $ 15,950 for the Committee's study on the Status of the NRU Reactor and the Supply of Medical Isotopes be adopted and that the Chair present the said budget to the Budget Subcommittee of the Liaison Committee.

 

At 11:05 a.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
