The Standing Committee on Health met in camera at 11:01 a.m. this day, in Room 7-52, 131 Queen St., the Chair, Joy Smith, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Patrick Brown, Colin Carrie, Patricia Davidson, Ruby Dhalla, Hon. Ujjal Dosanjh, Nicolas Dufour, Kirsty Duncan, Megan Anissa Leslie, Cathy McLeod, Joy Smith and Tim Uppal.

 

Acting Members present: Louis Plamondon for Luc Malo.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Sonya Norris, Analyst; Karin Phillips, Analyst.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the Committee on Tuesday, October 5, 2010, the Committee commenced its study on healthy living.
 

It was agreed, — That in regards to the study on healthy living, members of the Committee send their list of suggested witnesses for the meeting of Thursday, December 16, 2010, by Wednesday, December 8, 2010, at 6:00 p.m.

 
The Committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to Committee business.
 

It was agreed, — That the Committee conduct a statutory review of the Ten Year Plan to Strenghten Health Care in the new year.

 

It was agreed, — That the proposed operational budget in the amount of $12, 900 for the Committee's study on the examination of Health Canada's development of new regulations for tobacco packaging warning labels be adopted.

 

It was agreed, — That the proposed operational budget in the amount of $16, 650 for the Committee's study on injury prevention in Canada be adopted.

 

At 11:50 a.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
