The Standing Committee on Finance met at 3:33 p.m. this day, in Room 213, Wellington Building, the Chair, James Rajotte, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Kelly Block, Bob Dechert, Daryl Kramp, Jean-Yves Laforest, Hon. John McCallum, Hon. John McKay, Ted Menzies, Massimo Pacetti, James Rajotte and Mike Wallace.

 

Acting Members present: Robert Bouchard for Daniel Paillé and John Rafferty for Thomas J. Mulcair.

 

Other Members present: Michel Guimond.

 

In attendance: House of Commons: Travis Ladouceur, Committee Clerk. Library of Parliament: Mark Mahabir, Analyst.

Pursuant to the Order of Reference of Wednesday, May 27, 2009, the Committee commenced consideration of Bill C-288, An Act to amend the Income Tax Act (tax credit for new graduates working in designated regions).
 

Johanne Deschamps and Lysiane Boucher made a statement and, with Jean-David Beaulieu, answered questions.

 

At 4:35 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 4:37 p.m., the sitting resumed.

 

Kevin Page made a statement and, with Sahir Khan and Jason Jacques, answered questions.

 

Mike Wallace moved, — That pursuant to Standing Order 97.1, the Committee requests an extension of thirty days to considerBill C-288, An Act to amend the Income Tax Act (tax credit for new graduates working in designated regions), thereby providing the Committee with a total of ninety sitting days during which to complete its study of the bill. The Committee finds it necessary to consult further in order to give the Bill the consideration it requires. Therefore, it requests an extension of thirty sitting days.

Debate arose thereon.

 

At 5:30 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
