The Standing Committee on Finance met at 10:35 a.m. this day, in Room 269, West Block, the Chair, James Rajotte, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Kelly Block, Daryl Kramp, Jean-Yves Laforest, Hon. John McCallum, Hon. John McKay, Ted Menzies, Thomas J. Mulcair, Massimo Pacetti, James Rajotte and Mike Wallace.

 

Acting Members present: Martha Hall Findlay for Hon. John McKay, Jean-Yves Roy for Robert Carrier and Devinder Shory for Bob Dechert.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Mark Mahabir, Analyst. House of Commons: Travis Ladouceur, Committee Clerk; Mike MacPherson, Legislative Clerk.

Pursuant to the Order of Reference of Wednesday, October 7, 2009, the Committee resumed consideration of Bill C-51, An Act to implement certain provisions of the budget tabled in Parliament on January 27, 2009 and to implement other measures.
 

The witnesses made statements and answered questions.

 

At 11:33 a.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 11:36 a.m., the sitting resumed.

 

The Committee commenced its clause-by-clause study of the Bill.

 

Pursuant to Standing Order 75(1), consideration of Clause 1 is postponed.
